A first date
Feb. 17th, 2019 10:37 pmIt was early January. The New Year came and went and things seemed to be settling into a steady pace again. Sarah was finally getting used to the way things worked around here... no matter how odd it was. Of course, having someone she could talk to who seemed to understand her better than anyone ever had helped.
Cable had invited her out to the Badlands for a date... of sorts. As much of a date as either one of them could manage, at least. Like she said. Guns and food. It sounded like a good date to her. So here she was, waiting in the lobby for him to come down so they could head off to the Badlands together. Part of her worried that she should have tried to dress a little nicer... but they were going to test weapons, so it seemed silly to dress up at all. Her jeans, tank top, and leather jacket would have to do. It was what she felt most comfortable in, anyway. She hadn't worn a dress in about a decade... why start now?

Dress nice? Hell, girl, you're fine.

It was the truth. He always looked good, but that shirt looked particularly good on him, even more so without the leather jacket in the way. She wasn't expecting much. This was only a 'getting to know you better' thing, after all. But she could absolutely enjoy the view.
"You ready to go?"

Date: 2019-02-23 11:40 pm (UTC)It's been a long time since he's been out on
a datean outing with a woman, even if it is to blow shit up. It didn't matter who you were or what you were doing, if you were enjoying yourselves, it counts. As a date.no subject
Date: 2019-02-23 11:49 pm (UTC)She nodded. It really did. She hadn't been in anything resembling a date since before the Terminator shit started... Almost 11 years ago, now. Sure she'd been with men since but they were never really dates... More extended hook ups so she could learn from them. But this was different. She liked Cable for more than what he could teach her. He had a good heart and actually understood her. She felt like she could relax around him, which was more than she could say about most people.
She took a step towards the doors, "To the monorail, then?"

Date: 2019-02-25 08:20 pm (UTC)"I need to get a vehicle. While I don't mind walking, it takes a bigger chunk out of the day."
He didn't like wasting time, unless he wanted to. Besides, it would be more intimate to have a personal car. Or a truck.
"I'm gonna need to haul shit from one side of this place to the other, anyway."

Date: 2019-02-25 09:16 pm (UTC)"Yeah. And you won't have to rely on the monorail schedule, too. Would you get one of those hovor things or try to get something with wheels?"
She looked up at him as they talked. This was nice. It felt so... normal.

Date: 2019-02-28 08:24 pm (UTC)"Wheels. I don't like the hover technology they use here. Too prone to tipping over."
It wasn't long before they came to the monorail.
"I hate this thing. If we ever get stuck on it during an invasion, we're screwed."

Date: 2019-03-05 07:15 pm (UTC)She nodded, "You've got a point. Wonder if you could bring something through the portal."
The monorail arrived and the doors opened with a swoosh. Shaking her head, she stepped aboard. "Agreed. There's a reason it never caught on for regular transportation back home."

Date: 2019-03-10 06:39 pm (UTC)"I don't know enough about this place to know if there's anyone who would want to attack, but it always happens, eventually." He slides down into a seat and takes a look out the window. "It's strange to be in a place where there isn't fighting going on somewhere."

Date: 2019-03-19 08:24 pm (UTC)She shrugs, sitting next to him. The technology was still concerning but she was getting used to it... and wasn't sure if that was a good thing.
"Yeah. Makes me wonder what's going on that we don't see."

Date: 2019-04-09 07:20 pm (UTC)Cable leans his head against the glass for a moment, looking out over the alien landscape, lush greenery slowly giving way to dust and not much else.
"I'd like to know. Seems peaceful enough around here, but I'm always looking for strangeness. That bank robbery, for instance--I've rarely if ever seen a police force here. What happens if there aren't any heroic Oods around to find out who did it? They just get away? Think of that on a more profound scale."

Date: 2019-04-22 07:43 pm (UTC)Finally, she tilts her head to look at him, "What if this place really was some kind of weird utopia before 'Oods' showed up? What if they don't have a police force because they didn't have crime?"
